Different Types of Vegetarianism

Living the vegetarian lifestyle is intriguing and interesting to some people. It is more environmentally friendly than the meat-eating diet, better for the health, and encourages ethical treatment of animals.

Fruitarinism is one type of vegetarianism which chooses to eat fruits that naturally falls or without plucking them from the plant or fruits that are harvested without killing the plant. Becoming fruitarian is due to dietary reasons or others doing it because of the respect for both plant and animal life.

Another type is the vegan diet which emphasizes that an individual should abstain from eating both meat of the animals and foods that are produced by animals. The vegan diet refrains from serving eggs, milk, dairy products, and other similar products made from animals. Strict vegans avoid products that have animal ingredients such as gelatin, cheese, and certain types of sugar. They indulge in this diet because of dietary reasons or avoid the suffering of animals.

Pescetarianism is another type of vegetarian-like diet where the individual eats only fruits and vegetables except that they can eat fish and other seafood. Similar to pescetarianism is pollotarianism. This diet allows an individual to consume poultry in terms of meat.

Macrobiotic diet is related to vegetarianism, but those who follow macrobiotic diet is based firmly on whole grains and beans while permitting them to eat fish.

In deciding what type of lifestyle is right for you, the above mentioned items are good options to consider. Whenever you make significant dietary changes, bear in mind to do some research so that you can ensure that your new diet will be able to fulfill the nutritional needs of your body without supplementation.
